THE CRONULA SHARKS GROUP

An iconic brand located in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire, the Cronulla Sharks Group is responsible for the NRL and NRLW Sharks, overseeing junior pathways and young player development and for its licensed premises Sharks at Kareela and the Sharks Leagues Club at Woolooware.

Originating from the local Cronulla Caringbah junior club, the Cronulla Sutherland Sharks were born in 1967 when granted entry into the elite level NSWRL competition.

Since their inception the Sharks have played in four first grade Grand Finals, enjoying premiership success in 2016, the Paul Gallen-led side beating the Melbourne Storm in front of more than 80,000 fans at the Olympic Stadium in Homebush. In addition to team success, many highly rated individuals have represented the Cronulla club, amongst them the likes of Tommy Bishop, Steve Rogers, Greg Pierce, Gavin Miller and Andrew Ettingshausen.

Also, a pioneer in the women’s rugby league space, the Sharks were afforded a license to compete in the NRLW competition in 2023, before qualifying for their first Grand Final in 2024, only their second year in the competition.

Away from the field, the Group’s first licensed premises were near the railway station in Caringbah, the Sharks Leagues Club then moved to the Woolooware site adjacent to their home ground at Sharks Stadium in 1975.

Sharks at Kareela, proudly part of the Sharks Group since 2020, is a vibrant, family friendly hospitality venue delivering unforgettable experiences. With pristine 18-hole golf course, function spaces, bars, café, a multi award-winning restaurant, and dedicated gaming, TAB and sports bar areas, we provide something for everyone.

The Sharks are also a major supporter of community initiatives, programs and local organisations, including the Cronulla District Junior Rugby League.
